Worldliness Session 13: Worldliness v Unity of Faith- Part 2 [1:06:21m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | DownloadGodâs plan for Jerusalem was this: âBuild you houses, and dwell [in them]; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; Take you wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that you may be increased there, and not diminished. And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall you have peace.â (Jeremiah 29:5-7)
Today America stands at an uncertain crossroad. Our accustomed prosperity has become a collapsing house of cards with opportunistic men and women seeking to change our entire manner of life. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know Who holds the future! The simple command for believers to occupy until Christ returns is ever more appropriate today than ever. Godâs command for Jerusalem is very similar to His command to the church. We are commanded pray for the rulers of the land in which we sojourn so that we might lead godly and peaceable lives and so that Christ might be preached freely. (1 Timothy 2:1-8)
Good Works Show Faith
James 2:14-26 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe–and tremble!
Being Ready for Good Works
Titus 3:1-2 The Reminder is to be ready for every good workâ¦
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, showing all meekness unto all men. â¨
Titus 3:3-5a The Premise is your own salvationâ¦
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.
